Objective
The 4-Panel Typographic Sequence introduced basic principles of composition and narrative through the awareness of form and space relationships.
Research
The first step was to choose a letterform and typeface. By doing so there was comparing and contrasting the different characteristics between the typographic families. Specifically the serifs, weights, and postures from typeface to typeface. While focusing in on the Fibonacci sequence of proportions as a guide.
Analog Sketches
Paper, pencil and thin black sharpies were the first tools used in crafting the final. The sketches allowed for quickly generating ideas to start to learn the chosen letterform better and notice the positive and negative space relationships created.
Digital Ideations and Iterations
Before jumping into the integration of type, the analog sketches were digitalized in Illustrator. Manipulation of the chosen letterform and typeface started to be explored.
Digital Translation
The final phase was to pay attention to detail on the implementation of type. There was conscientious placement of type in correspondence with its environment. Manipulation of the letterform played a major role in the final result.
