Objective
Sweetener was designed, photographed, and edited to reimagine an album cover for an existing album. The album includes a physical mockup of a gateway style vinyl sleeve along with Side A and B labels for the vinyl.
Research
The first step was to get familiarized with the songs, explore their deeper meanings, and to unveil the overall themes of the album. This process helped develop a clear understanding of the album's messages and purpose. The themes discovered and utilized were self-care, empowerment, overcoming hardships, looking for the beauty in life.
Inspiration
Concept Direction
The concept for the Sweetener album consists of the juxtaposition of sugar and a cactus. The cactus symbolizes life's challenges, while the sugar poured on top represents the idea of 'Sweetening up your life.' Together, these elements convey the overarching theme of finding beauty in life and embracing moments of sweetness whenever possible.
