Objective
Welcome Home Garage Doors is a start-up garage door company for which I designed a memorable, friendly, and inviting logo that captures the warmth of home and reflects the client’s vision.
Research
I began by immersing myself in the visual identities of other garage door companies, studying their logos to identify common themes, effective design elements, and opportunities for differentiation.
Sketches
Began with a series of logo sketches, exploring different compositions, garage angles, and arrangements of the brand name. Focus remained on simplicity and flexibility to ensure the design would translate well across various applications, such as apparel, signage, and merchandise.
Digitalization
Refined three selected sketches digitally to explore how each concept would look in a polished form. This allowed for adjustments to proportion, line quality, and overall structure. The refined options were shared with the client for feedback, and the logo direction of their choice was carried forward for further development and application.
Final Decision
Collaborated with the client to finalize the logo, agreeing that the balanced line weights and the integration of the garage door graphic with typography created a cohesive and effective design.
Color and Typography
Chose to follow the client’s vision of a friendly and reliable brand by using a soft blue color palette. Blue was selected for its strong associations with trust and approachability. Two complementary shades of blue were applied to add depth and visual interest while maintaining a warm, inviting feel.
Final
Application
The final logo was applied to a custom designed quote sheet, along with t-shirts, hats, and pens, showcasing its flexibility and strong visual presence across a range of branded materials. It is also planned to appear on trucks, signage, and additional applications as the business grows.
